Happiness is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty without happiness.

Earlier this month my husband and I celebrated our 14th Anniversary with a little trip to Dallas. We luxuriated in the lovely Fairmont Dallas and spent hours perusing the aisles of bookstores and finding unique places to eat. But we saved the best for last … a short but inspired trip to the Dallas Museum of Art to see the special Christian Dior exhibit!
Dior: From Paris to the World
I can’t say enough good things about this exhibit! It is an absolutely stunning visual experience. From the entrance on each new room is stunningly composed to reflect the real breadth and legacy of the House or Dior’s stunning contribution to fashion.
And to stand so close to these stunning collections, to experience these designs and the craftsmanship in such a tangible way was a truly inspiring experience! Even if you don’t have a passion for fashion it would be hard to believe that one wouldn’t be taken in by the artistic beauty of the clothes and the exquisite presentation of them.
The exhibit below was one of our favourite rooms. I loved seeing all the designs inspired by such a variety of countries and cultures. The entire back wall of this room also showcases “Ladies in Dior”, featuring gowns worn by famous women over the decades.
It was next to impossible to not want to photograph every single dress and exhibit because of the masterful presentation of it all! But I won’t share ALL my photos because I hope that if you are anywhere near Dallas until September 1, 2019 that you will get yourself to the DMA to experience it for yourself!
Please note that this exhibit requires the purchase of tickets and you also have to select a time. The nature of the exhibit really benefits for the time slots because it prevents the experience from becoming too overwhelming. We were there on a Tuesday at 2pm and there were a lot of people walking through. Having the timed viewing absolutely allowed for everyone to experience each exhibit room to its fullest without too much overcrowding.
Here are the details for seeing the show straight from the DMA website:
{Adult tickets are $20 Tuesday–Thursday, and $25 Friday–Sunday, with discounts for seniors, students, and military. DMA Members can reserve their free tickets online. Children 11 and under are free.}
And I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves a nice museum gift shop experience, so I’m happy to report that I acquired these gems to add to my journal collection!
By being natural and sincere, one often can create revolutions without having sought them.

Some final parting words from Christian Dior seem appropriate! As we savor the days of our lives, pursue our dreams, and lean into our talents and passions, I think Dior’s words ring true! Being ourselves and being genuine and sincere are the very things that this world needs!
Warmly,
Magdalena
